Welcome Aboard

Hello, and welcome to Everyday Gamers.

In this new blog I aim to share with you, the reader, my thoughts, opinions, reviews & rants about everything video game related.

So what can you hope to see on this blog? Well, to understand that I think a little background information is required. I've been playing games on a variety of platforms for as long as I can recall. My first experiences were on an old tape-reading Amstrad, playing the likes of Desert Island Dizzy and Paperboy! I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 at the time, but luckily for me, as the youngest in a family obsessed with gaming, I was exposed early and often! From then, I've been playing any and all manner of games spanning genres and systems. I must quantify though, until very recently (maybe a year ago) I was firmly a supporter of PC gaming and was of the opinion that it was the best platform for gaming available. But that sounds like a separate blog post all to itself, and I'll leave it for another time whilst adding that I now own a PS3 to complement my PC and realise what it brings to the table.

So, understanding my attachment to gaming, you might be expecting this blog to be the opinions of a fairly hard-core "pro" gamer, but in reality it's anything but. Playing games, for me, has never been about being the best or completing anything to the fullest or the fastest or whatever. It's always been about enjoying the experience or immersing myself in the world or the fiction that the games developers have laid on the table for you. For that reason, you won't be finding me analysing Kill/Death ratios or sniping spots on a CoD2 multi player map or the like! So when I'm talking about games, or reviewing a specific game I hope you'll understand my viewpoint a little better. Sometimes I play games on Medium Difficulty, it has been known for me to suck at multi-player modes! More often than not for me the joy of playing video games isn't necessarily for the challenge, but for the experience your gaining from it.

So with that now out of the way, I'd like to thank you again for reading and hope you'll stick around and check out what I've got to say and will get involved and let me know what you think in return!

All the best,

Tom
